R3 Awards 2007

October 17, 2007 5 – 7 p.m. Lussier Family Heritage Center @ 3101 Lake Farm Road in Madison Presented and sponsored by To celebrate the state's most successful professionals and businesses working to reduce, reuse, and recycle commercial debris, 90 contractors, architects, engineers, waste haulers and other recycling professionals gathered at Lussier Family Heritage Center for the second annual R3 Awards. This ceremony, sponsored and presented by The Daily Reporter, Whole Foods and Waste Management Recycle America, will featured presentations by Mary Burke, Secretary for the Wisconsin Department of Commerce, Adel "Tab" Tabrizi, the Director of the Bureau of Architecture and Engineering for the Wisconsin Department of Administration and special guest, Matt Frank, the new secretary for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. The first State of Recycling address was presented by WasteCap Wisconsin's Director of Strategic Development, Jenna Kunde.

OUTSTANDING VOLUNTEER AWARD is given to an outstanding volunteer who has been a great asset to the organization and has donated significant time and resources to improve WasteCap programs and initiatives.

OUTSTANDING PARTNER AWARD is given to an organization that has partnered with WasteCap Wisconsin and shared the vision of transforming waste into resources either through a grant program, funding for research or other outstanding partnership opportunity.

OUTSTANDING BOARD MEMBER AWARD is given to an outstanding board member for their commitment to the organization.

OUTSTANDING COMMITMENT AWARD is given to a member, individual or company that has been instrumental in shaping and promoting the transformation of waste into resources through commitment to a program or initiative leading to demonstrative change.

INNOVATIVE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD was presented to Wisconsin Public Service for their large construction and demolition debris recycling program at Weston 4 Power Plant in Rothschild.

BIG DIVERTER AWARD is given to a current project (either general contractor or owner) with the highest recycling rate. Projects include those in which WasteCap is involved and/or is monitoring the project's recycling program. This year, the top eight projects (by recycling rate) became the nominees for the Big Diverter Award.
