Greater Fox Cities Habitat for Humanity ReStore starting pilot recycling program, looking for help with material processing
The Greater Fox Cities Area Habitat for Humanity ReStore will soon implement a pilot recycling program in order to provide countertops to the Habitat Homes it serves.
The ReStore will take porcelain and glass that has been donated and turn those materials into custom terrazzo countertops for use in Habitat for Humanity Homes. The ReStore has a company that is willing to manufacture the countertops, but they need help processing the materials; specifically, crushing the porcelain and glass into size 0, 1 and 2 only. Any companies willing to work with the ReStore on this innovative program will be recognized for their work and mentioned in the grant proposal.
In addition, the ReStore is looking for help with chipping the lumber and cardboard that is donated to the store. This would be an ongoing recycling effort at the ReStore. If you are interested in helping with either project, please contact Megan Thiel, ReStore VISTA, at (920) 967-8907 or megant@fcrestore.org.
About Habitat for Humanity ReStore
The Greater Fox Cities Area Habitat for Humanity ReStore sells new and used home improvement materials to the public at discounted prices. Materials are donated by both the public and private sector, and include items such as cabinets, lighting and plumbing fixtures, doors, lumber, flooring, paint and windows. All proceeds from ReStore benefit the mission of the Greater Fox Cities Area Habitat for Humanity, which then uses these funds to build simple, decent, affordable housing in the Fox Cities Area for families in need.. Through the donation process, thousands of tons of materials are diverted from the landfill each year.
