WasteCap Wisconsin's Waukesha Area Food Waste Recovery Pilot Final Report
After three months, February 11 - May 10 2002, WasteCap Wisconsin's Waukesha
Food Waste Recovery Pilot diverted more than 100,000 pounds (almost 60 tons)
of compostable material from the landfill, with five of six participating
Waukesha-area grocery stores reporting cost savings. Results are detailed in
the Waukesha Food Waste Recovery Pilot Final Report.

Establishing WasteCap Wisconsin's Waukesha Food Waste Recovery Pilot
In the first month of WasteCap Wisconsin's food waste recovery program, more
than 36,000 pounds of compostable material were collected through a
cooperative effort among six Waukesha-area grocery stores, a hauler and a
compost facility.
The three-month collection pilot ran from February 11 - May 10, 2002. The
goal was to recover this valuable resource by connecting food waste
generators, haulers to transport the material and a facility to compost it.
