WasteCap Wisconsin Talk & Tour at Madison Gas and Electric and UW-Madison’s West Campus Cogeneration Facility

On November 16, 2004 Madison Gas and Electric Company hosted a WasteCap Wisconsin Talk & Tour at the new West Campus Cogeneration Facility in Madison, WI. The new cogeneration power plant was built by Madison Gas and Electric and UW Madison and is one of the cleanest plants in the Midwest. The event highlighted the facility’s recycling program where crews achieved a nearly 90% recycling rate and have saved the project $81,000 by recycling. In addition, attendees learned about new more efficient methods of transporting waste materials on the worksite and received a hands-on tour of the facility itself. The Talk & Tour provided a great opportunity for architects, builders, contractors, building owners, recycling professionals, haulers and others to learn about successful commercial construction waste recycling.
